Facing Rocky Waters
I think we all hope for smooth sailing. We want calm waters, predictable circumstances, and an uncomplicated journey. But eventually, every one of us encounters rough seas.
Health concerns arise. Relationships become difficult. We worry about our children. Work becomes stressful. Circumstances change unexpectedly, and suddenly we find ourselves carrying burdens we never anticipated.
When we try to carry all of that ourselves, worry can quickly become overwhelming. But that is not how God intends us to live. We were never meant to navigate life’s rocky waters alone.
Scripture repeatedly reminds us that God is with us. Hebrews 13:5 echoes His promise: “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (NIV).
I cannot imagine facing life’s trials without Him.
When blessings come, count them. Notice God’s goodness and thank Him for the moments of calm. But when the waters become turbulent, turn toward Him in prayer. Seek His direction. Hand Him the fear, uncertainty, and situations you cannot control.
There is tremendous freedom in remembering that God never asked us to have all the answers. He simply asks us to trust the One who does.
Philippians 4:6–7 encourages us not to be anxious but to bring everything to God in prayer. When we do, His peace guards our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
The waters may still be rocky. The storm may not disappear immediately. But we can rest knowing we are not navigating it alone.
Whatever sea you are facing today, loosen your grip on the wheel and place what you cannot control into God’s hands.
He is with you.
He will guide you.
And His peace can hold you steady—even in rocky waters.
