VOICE OF TRUTH FOR TODAY
Reluctant Purpose

My heart was pounding when my husband said yes to fostering.

We had just completed an intense seminar on the foster system, and we knew the risks—the emotional toll, the uncertainty, the possibility of loving a child we might have to give back. But there was a little boy who needed a home, and we felt God calling us to say yes.

It wasn’t easy.

We had to trust God not only with our hearts, but with our young son’s heart as well. Would he be okay if we lost a child he had grown to love?

Someone once told us, “If you are in obedience, God will take care of your child’s heart.”

That truth carried us forward.
What followed was a journey filled with love, chaos, fear, and incredible blessing. One child became two… then three. Court dates, visitations, and uncertainty became part of our daily lives.

We loved these children fully—knowing we might have to let them go.

And then, God did something beautiful.
He gave them to us permanently.

Scripture says: “Religion that God our Father accepts… is this: to look after orphans…” — James 1:27

Obedience is rarely easy. It stretches us. It challenges us. It requires faith.
But it also leads to blessings we never could have planned.

Looking back, I didn’t choose this path—but I am so grateful God did.
Even with the challenges, I wouldn’t trade our story for anything.
