VOICE OF TRUTH FOR TODAY
Who Is This Jesus?
Who is Jesus to you?
Is He a teacher? A prophet? A miracle worker? Or simply a historical figure from two thousand years ago?
The Gospel of Mark asks this very question. In Mark 1, Jesus enters a synagogue and begins teaching. The people listening are amazed because He speaks with authority unlike any teacher they have heard before.
Then something extraordinary happens.
A man possessed by an impure spirit cries out, recognizing exactly who Jesus is:
“I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”
Even the demons understood His identity.
With authority and power, Jesus commands the spirit to leave the man—and it obeys immediately.
The crowd is astonished.
Who is this Jesus who teaches with such authority?
Who is this Jesus whom demons recognize and fear?
Who is this Jesus who commands evil and it must obey?
Mark presents the evidence so readers can answer the question for themselves.
Jesus is not simply a teacher.
He is the Son of God.
The One with authority over darkness.
The One who brings freedom to the oppressed.
The One who calls us to follow Him.
But the question remains for each of us personally:
Who is Jesus to you?
