EMPOWERING LIVES WITH PURPOSE:
Michele Hicks Hughes, Leadership Team- Guest Writer:
It was a hot summer day and I was enjoying an outdoor walk and stopped at an alley to let a garbage truck go by. Just as the truck had almost passed, this horrendous smell gagged me! I couldn’t cross the road fast enough to get away from that smell! It lingered and I just kept making a nasty face. My thoughts quickly turned to the person on the back of the truck jumping on and off all day long and not being able to get away from that smell!
Our lives can be like this, right? We have so much junk and if it isn’t dealt with, it begins to stink and can become toxic.
I wondered who on earth would want to be a trash collector, and yet, I am so grateful for those who do! Imagine what our world would look like without the trash collectors.  No job is greater than another but I think this has to be somewhere at the top as far as essential. Let’s give a shout-out to our trash collectors/neighborhood transformers.
Jesus is like that. He comes into our lives and transforms us.
We need to remember to take the trash out (confess our sins) and allow God to wash us clean. Whatever is holding us down or causing us or someone else to gag, let’s lay it at His feet and leave it there.
1 John 1:9 ASV- If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
2 Cor. 5:17 ESV- Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2 Cor. 2:15 ESV- For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing,
Eph. 5:2 ESV- And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
