VOICE OF TRUTH FOR TODAY
Choosing Truth Over a Lie

Jesus often challenged people to look beyond what was comfortable and embrace what was true. In John 5, He presented undeniable evidence of who He was, yet many still refused to believe Him.
Why?
Because truth often requires surrender.

I’m amazed by the title Jesus used for Himself: Son of Man. He is not distant from our struggles. He walked where we walk, felt what we feel, and understands our human experience completely. He knows our fears, disappointments, temptations, and weaknesses. Yet He remained perfectly obedient to the Father.

As I reflect on His life, I find myself asking difficult questions. Do I truly listen and obey God, or do I pursue my own plans? Do I seek God’s approval, or am I still craving acceptance from people?
Jesus warned that the desire for human approval can keep us from recognizing truth when it stands right in front of us. Sometimes we cling to familiar beliefs, comfortable habits, or the opinions of others because they feel safer than complete surrender.

Yet Jesus continually invites us into something better.
John 5:24 says, “Whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life.”

Truth is not simply a set of facts. Truth is a person. Truth is Jesus.
When we come to Him, we discover life, freedom, and purpose. We learn that His approval is worth more than the applause of the world. We find courage to release the lies that have shaped us and embrace the identity He offers.

Today, ask yourself: Am I seeking the acceptance of others more than the approval of God? Is there a truth He is asking me to embrace?
May we choose Him—even when it costs us comfort.
