Here I Am, Lord, Send Me
“Here I am, Lord, send me.” Those words have been settling deeply into my heart as I’ve asked God a question: How can I do my part in making Jesus known?
When we think about purpose, it’s easy to imagine something big—a ministry platform, a book, a Bible study, or traveling around the world. But I’m discovering that some of God’s greatest assignments begin in small, quiet places. For me, that place is currently my home.
When I began homeschooling my two daughters, I felt overwhelmed and unqualified. This wasn’t the plan I’d imagined. I thought once all five of my children were in school, I’d work outside the home, perhaps pursue full-time ministry or further my education.
Instead, God opened a door I hadn’t asked Him to open. And slowly I realized: this is ministry too. Isaiah heard the Lord ask, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” His answer was, “Here I am. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8, ESV).
Right now, God has called me to nurture my daughters academically and spiritually—to teach them about His love, grace, and purpose and raise warrior women who will carry Jesus into their own mission fields.
I may not see the harvest yet. But 2 Timothy 1:5 reminds us of Timothy’s faith, first lived out through his grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice. Faithfulness creates ripples across generations. Every prayer matters. Every act of love matters. Every quiet sacrifice matters.
Your assignment doesn’t need a stage or impressive title to have eternal significance.
Perhaps God is calling you across the world. Perhaps He’s calling you across the hallway.
Either way, when He asks, “Whom shall I send?”
May our answer be: Here I am, Lord. Send me. All for His glory. All to make Jesus known.
