VOICE OF TRUTH FOR TODAY
God Is Working
How effective are our prayers? It’s a question I’ve wrestled with when I’ve prayed repeatedly and nothing seems to change. My husband and I have several prayers we’ve carried before God for a long time. And if I’m truthful, sometimes continued waiting has made our prayers feel almost routine. We pray—but are we praying with full faith and expectancy?
James 1:6 tells us when we ask God, we should “believe and not doubt” (NIV).
So I’ve started intentionally looking for God’s hand while continuing to claim victory in the bigger things. And I’ve discovered something beautiful. When we pay attention, God often gives us little glimpses of His activity—small nuggets of encouragement reminding us:
I hear you. Trust Me. I’m working.
I understand the father who cried out to Jesus, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24, NLT).
Sometimes that’s my prayer too.
We pray daily for our daughters, family, friends, ministries, leaders, relationships, jobs, businesses, marriages, and health. And again and again, God allows conversations or circumstances to contain tiny confirmations that He’s heard us.
The answer simply isn’t complete yet. Waiting is difficult in a culture trained for instant gratification. We want answers now. But Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us to trust God rather than our own understanding. His timing is better. His perspective is complete. His heart toward us is good.
So whatever concern you’re carrying today, keep praying.
When you’re praying for your children—God is working. Your marriage—God is working. Your health—God is working. Your ministry—God is working.
Even when you cannot see the finished answer, trust the One who hears every prayer.
Look for the little glimpses. And keep believing. God is working.
