Cinnamon Sugar Toast
Sometimes the sweetest memories come from the simplest things.
For me, it was a piece of cinnamon sugar toast.
As I prepared breakfast one morning, I made toast the way my dad always did. My children looked at me with curious expressions, wondering why anyone would put cinnamon and sugar on toast. As they took their first bites, I found myself sharing stories about their grandfather—a man they’ll never meet this side of heaven.
My father passed away just hours after my oldest son was born.
Although grief still visits from time to time, gratitude has become stronger.
I thank God for the father He chose for me.
He taught me generosity, reminding me that blessings are meant to be shared. He taught me not to waste energy worrying over small things. He taught me the importance of using the right tools to do a job well.
Looking back, I see biblical wisdom woven throughout his everyday lessons. Second Corinthians 9:6 reminds us to give generously. First Peter 5:7 encourages us to cast our anxieties on the Lord. Ephesians 6:11 tells us to put on the full armor of God.
Those lessons shaped far more than my childhood. They helped establish a foundation of faith that continues today.
Sometimes God uses ordinary moments to remind us of extraordinary blessings.
A piece of toast. A family recipe. A familiar scent. A treasured memory. Each one becomes a reminder that love leaves a legacy worth passing on. And for that, I’ll always be thankful.
