VOICE OF TRUTH FOR TODAY
Jesus First
It’s easy to become distracted by recognition, influence, and the desire to be noticed.
Even John the Baptist’s disciples struggled when they saw more people following Jesus than John. They viewed it as competition. John saw it as success. He understood that his purpose had never been to draw people to himself. His calling was to point people to Jesus.
John 3:30 captures his heart beautifully: “He must become greater; I must become less.”
What a powerful prayer for all of us.
When God allows us to encourage someone, teach, lead, or serve, are we secretly hoping for recognition? Or are we content if all the attention points to Christ?
John the Baptist joyfully stepped aside so Jesus could take center stage. That’s true humility. Jesus continues extending the same invitation today. He meets us in our wilderness seasons, speaks truth into our hearts, and reminds us that He alone satisfies our deepest needs.
John declared that everyone who believes in Jesus has eternal life. All. No exceptions. No qualifications beyond faith.
May our lives become transparent enough that people don’t simply notice us—they see Jesus through us. May He become greater. And may we gladly become less.
Because when Jesus is first, everyone wins.
