VOICE OF TRUTH FOR TODAY
Was That in the Script?
As a director, I expect my cast and crew to follow the script. Everyone listens for my cues, trusts my direction, and responds accordingly. After all, I’m the director.
The problem is that sometimes I forget that Jesus is mine.
Not long ago, the Lord lovingly pointed out that while my words might have looked good on the outside, the meditation of my heart wasn’t matching His script. Ouch.
Psalm 19:14 says, “May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord.”
I wish I could tell you I immediately repented and welcomed correction. Instead, I argued. Surely my attitude wasn’t that bad, right?
Wrong.
The Holy Spirit has a way of exposing things we’d rather ignore. My bad attitude wasn’t hidden from Him. In fact, because He knows my heart, He lovingly addressed it.
As I wrestled with conviction, God reminded me of Philippians 2:2, encouraging believers to have the same attitude as Christ. Suddenly, I realized that joy and gratitude are powerful weapons against negativity and self-centeredness.
A bad attitude hates joy.
When we ask God to search our hearts and reveal what needs adjusting, He is not trying to shame us. He is helping us become more like Jesus.
As believers, our lives are on display. The world is watching how we respond when things don’t go our way. Are we reflecting Christ, or are we writing our own script?
Thankfully, God is the greatest Director imaginable. He knows every scene, every challenge, and every opportunity for growth.
When He calls “Cut!” on a wrong attitude, it’s because He has something better planned for the next take.
And yes, a little chocolate may help too. Just saying. 😄
