Our righteousness in Christ tells us that despite any wrong feelings that we have about ourselves, we are the right person in Jesus!
No matter what memories may haunt us and penetrate our minds from our past, you are the right person covered under the blood of Jesus now.
I heard the saying one time that I can’t forget because it so applied to me…”Christ rights you, despite you.” And as many times as I would hear pounding voices telling me I was a failure, I screwed up; I’ll never be able to serve God with freedom because of my past haunting me; God would always be there for me. God freed me! Whether in His Word or listening to messages spoken, His voice came through, but it took time to identify where those bad voices of negativity were coming from and then stop them.
The enemy wants to keep us eternally separated from our Creator. He works hard at it daily. If we do not recognize our past for what it is and where the sour voice comes from, how will we be able to help someone else who is falling under the same schemes of an attack?
We need to know and trust God that our past no longer defines us, and God covers us as a new creation in Him.
“Nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Jesus Christ our Lord.”(Romans 8:39)
“So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Jesus Christ.” (Romans 6:11)
Paul tells us to consider…which means “think about it carefully”…renew your mind! Understand your failures, flaws and any shortcomings that you think about yourself- they do not change how God feels about you. Pursue your goals and dreams with Jesus. Had I listened to the voices in my head, I’d be sitting in my “Woe Is Me” chair, waiting for the next sunny day to hopefully come soon… But now, every day is a sunny day with Jesus because I’m a new creation in Him!
Remember your right identity in Christ and live like you believe who you are in Him!
