EMPOWERING LIVES WITH PURPOSE:
Jerusalem had fallen, Most of the nobles had been put to death and the remnant of poor people were left behind. Things looked desperate. People came to Jeremiah for a word from God. Jeremiah prayed and waited and when God’s word came… The people did exactly the opposite of the instructions they received. (Jeremiah 41&42)
How many times do we pray for something and wait and then we become disobedient because our eyes only see our present circumstance and want it fixed our way? We get anxious and take over control. It may be out of fear, or other reasons but we give up way too soon or we don’t like the answer we receive and take over to resolve the solution our way.
Although people ask for God’s guidance as in these chapters of Jeremiah, they already had decided what they would do.
We can all be like this at times. We act on only what we want to hear. And when God says “yes” to something, we act as if we didn’t hear anything at all.
We need to be sure when we go before the Lord with our ask, that we ask Him to help us do it as well. Follow through with your prayer, whatever that prayer is, and be open to what God speaks to you through His Word. His answers are the correct answers, always. Wait on Him.
Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…(Isaiah 40:31)
