Love Breaks Barriers
In May 2024, I finally boarded a plane for India to serve with Rahab’s Rope, a ministry dedicated to ending human trafficking and restoring hope, purpose, and dignity to women and children. The trip had originally been planned for months earlier, but illness and an unexpected appendectomy closed that door. I was shocked and disappointed, but God eventually showed me that a closed door doesn’t always mean no. Sometimes it simply means, not yet.
When I finally arrived, God’s timing became beautiful. Our team served in Mumbai and Goa, entering places where women had been trafficked, supporting those who minister there daily, serving children, teaching life skills, and simply loving people. The heat was physically challenging, and swelling in my legs and feet threatened to hinder me, but God protected me through the prayers of many.
What impacted me most was the simplicity of the Gospel. In Goa, children came with open hearts for homework help or simply to have someone color with them. In Mumbai, I looked into the eyes of women who had been trafficked and, through a translator, told them how deeply God loved them. I saw firsthand that love crosses boundaries language cannot.
“God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him” (1 John 4:16, ESV).
You may never be called to travel overseas. That’s okay. Our mission field may be our home, workplace, neighborhood, family, or the stranger God places in our path.
Jesus said people would know we are His disciples by our love (John 13:34–35).
So wherever God sends you, be available. Walk in your YES.
Because loving like Jesus does still breaks barriers.
