EMPOWERING LIVES WITH PURPOSE:

Pride, when we express it in a haughty way, is condemned in God’s word. Why? Because it is seen as a rebellion against God. It is blinding us to our own flaws and needs, and ultimately leading us to destruction.

Pride in a wrong context is an inflated sense of self-importance and a refusal to acknowledge dependence on God, and it also hinders spiritual growth and true humility in us as we aim to be Christ followers.

If we are not releasing our pride and surrendering it to God, we expose a refusal to acknowledge God’s sovereignty and the fact that all good gifts come from Him. This elevates oneself above God, making us the center of our own world.

Pride prevents us from seeing our own shortcomings and our dependence on God’s grace and mercy.

Pride is often seen as the root cause of many other sins, as it can fuel arrogance, jealousy, and other negative behaviors in any one of us.

Pride also prevents us from having a humble spirit and from serving others, making us self-centered and unwilling to acknowledge the needs of others. I know none of us wants this in our character, right?

We must be aware that pride can create a spiritual blindness, preventing us from recognizing the truth and seeking guidance from God. Please pray if you suspect any of this in your own heart and ask God to remove it and forgive you. God hears us when we pray.

James 4:6 reminds us, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

Proverbs 16:18 “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”

Release any wrongful pride and instead turn to a humble spirit, which God can teach.
