EMPOWERING LIVES WITH PURPOSE
I wanted to share some thoughts on worry and anxiety, as inspired by scripture.
Matthew 6:25 reminds us, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body…”
Philippians 4:6-7 further advises, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
While worrying or anxiety are not inherently sins, they can become problematic when they consume us and we choose to heed the voice of worry over the voice of God. This indicates that worry is controlling us, which goes against putting God first in our lives.
When you find yourself starting to worry about a problem, I encourage you to pause, pray, and surrender it to God. Listen for His voice guiding you, just as Isaiah 30:21 states, “Whether you turn to the left or to the right, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it.'”
