EMPOWERING LIVES WITH PURPOSE:

Let’s share Jesus with effective communication! It is key to being able to share Him with others. Learning this could be a hard job, trusting that I can communicate properly with the right timing and the “plan or blueprint.” Look into a person’s life before jumping on them to talk.

Be humble, be honest, and be true when you share about our Lord and be empathetic to others. People want to see honesty and humility in you first and showing kindness to them before they will trust and listen to a preachy, self-righteous person.

“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.” (Psalm 19:14)

A word spoken in love will always be acceptable to our Lord.

One thing NOT to do is exaggerate. I’ve come across people who have so much exaggeration in their verbal connection with other people that when I see them, I want to run the other way. I can hardly hold back from saying something to help them get beyond this, but I do. And when I see it, how many others are seeing it, too? I’ve learned to tune these types of people out or just plain avoid them, unfortunately. Please be sensitive to how others are viewing your communication skills. A person can lose a tremendous audience because of an exaggeration problem. Be a good listener.

Many communication blockers can include a lack of honesty, pride, fake tears, and talking too much. Again, I implore you to practice being a good listener and experience with empathy what others are feeling in the moment and when they speak. Your turn will come to communicate back. Then, when it does, communicate your thoughts in a way that God directs you.

Ezekiel 3:15 shares where the prophet said, “I sat where they sat,” and David also shared, “Beside the rivers of Babylon, we sat and went as we thought of Jerusalem”(Psalm 137:1). Empathy is important. Become one of them in who you are trying to reach by putting yourself in their shoes for a minute(maybe sit where she sits by staying home with four children and changing diapers, washing clothes, and caring for sick children). There is always a story on the other side of who you are reaching.

Reaching people for Jesus begins with being a good listener.
