EMPOWERING LIVES WITH PURPOSE:
I came across this verse today and couldn’t help but reflect over my past sin and the day God revealed this portion of scripture to me when He knew I needed it…
“And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” ( 1 Corinthians 6…)
I was floating on a yacht somewhere in the South Pacific near an island; I could barely see it with my eyes. I had a Bible next to me when God prompted my heart to open it as I sat there in serene beauty, gazing intently. He took me directly to the portion of scripture I just shared. (Many of you have read my story in Tears to Triumph and my struggle with sexual sin.) God got my attention that day through the chapter of 1 Corinthians 6 on a private vessel that gorgeous day in the sun. I could actually write a whole book about just that one particular day that God spoke LOUDLY AND BOLDLY to get my attention!
No matter what kind of sin, sexual or other that you may have struggles with, the cross is where we each find His mercy, cleansing, and redemption. God will get our attention every time He deems it necessary.
Every sexual choice is also a spiritual choice. By faith, you can choose to deny any feelings that don’t line up with the Truth. I had a choice to make that day, and God knew it was necessary to back up what I voiced to Him earlier that week, that I was turning from my sin and surrendering to Him. God spoke it clearly and confirmed what I needed to do to break the chains that held me tied. I read through that chapter as I sat in the sun on the yacht.
In situations with sin (and yours may not be sexual), we need to reject every lie about our identity and accept the “new identity” as the image bearer you were created to be. You are carrying the name of Christ in your being!
Be “washed,” dear friends. Be “sanctified.” Be “justified” in the name of Jesus Christ! Then accept your identity as the “most loved” child of God. Because……
THAT IS WHO YOU ARE!!! Then move from darkness into light by His saving grace, and don’t look back! Take the step of faith and change your ways. Mean what you say to God, and do it!
Then, go and serve Him wholeheartedly!
