Happy Mothers Day.
If you’re a mom, have a mom, know a mom, becoming a mom, asking God for a miracle mom, or having someone you “love” like a mom, would we all agree a mom has value in the eyes of God? God created all mothers. He speaks clearly in His word about ALL mothers, “not just certain ones”, ALL moms.
A mother’s love reflects the love of God. Motherhood would not be possible without the Lord, ever. Jesus had unwavering love for His mother.
Mary set a standard for us all to follow that we should honor our own mothers. We may not always agree with them, but God says we should honor them just the same, and we must obey Him; after all, He’s God. He has a PURPOSE for this, a reason why He put that command in His Word. Do we question God? Do we make excuses to God why we aren’t obeying Him? No, there should be no excuses on our part.
Do we ever realize the sacrifice it took to bear a child, raise a child and let a child go? Therefore, the value placed on motherhood should be honored. Those who have adult children understand the significance of such a threefold sacrifice.
Proverbs 31:28-31 says, “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many have done excellently, but you surpass them all.”
Strength and dignity is her clothes, and she opens her mouth with wisdom; teaching of kindness is on her tongue. (we should all strive to be this character of a mom.)
Are we ever perfect? No. No one is, and where grace is needed, grace should be given. But we should strive for this character as in Proverbs 31.
In Matthew 15:4 God said, “Honor your Father and Mother, and anyone who curses them is to be put to death.”
Deuteronomy 5:16 says, “Honor your Father and Mother as God has, “commanded” you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land your God has given you.
Please, show respect to these verses and give a mother, hopefully, your mother-if you still have her here, the honor that God says she deserves today and every day she’s alive. You may not agree with her at times through this life, but God is the One you must argue it out with. He is watching your attitude and your moves in obedience to His Word.
Mothers are to be loved and honored as Jesus says, and may today be that day that she would be honored by you in the way God says. What a testimony that can be. Please pray and step out in faith if you struggle here.
Shower your mom with love and grace and show mercy as given by God, just as you hope your own children will do for you someday, maybe even today.
If you’re a mom, may your children honor you, and celebrate you on this special day. If, for whatever reason, they don’t choose to honor you, that’s between them and God, and pray for them. Please allow God to ease your hurts; many of us have compassion and empathy for you, but it’s only God who can ease your pain… He will never leave you or let you go. He loves you unconditionally.❤
