EMPOWERING LIVES WITH PURPOSE:
Do you struggle with finding it hard to do the things that you know are the right things to do? Have you ever thought about why it is you may not want to do those things that are right?
God tells us in His word, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)
If you fall into this category of struggle, you are not alone. Did you know in the Bible, Paul talks about this when he says, “I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate…So, I am not the one doing wrong. It is sin living in me that does it. And I know that nothing good lives in me; that is in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t.” (Romans 7:15, 17-18)
When we belong to God, and even though we are His loved daughters, there is a tension inside of us. It is our old past and our sinful nature wanting its way again. The good nature that God gave you is also there, pressing on you to do what He instructs you to do. It can be a struggle in some believers.
The secret is personal change inside you and resolving to surrender to Jesus. When I resolved this, my life radically changed forever, and so did thoughts and temptations to give in to those old ways.
When you change the way you feel, it changes the way your behavior acts out.
We decide we are either going to believe the lie that we want to choose something that’s bad for us or change our mindset. We adapt the life that God says is good for us, which includes obedience and the choices therein. Obedience is where change lies. We need to know and believe God’s truth.
The truth is the key…our key to freedom.
