EMPOWERING LIVES WITH PURPOSE:
How often do we walk about with our defenses up? We don’t know who or where to turn when enemies rise against us. But, God tells us…
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” (Psalm 23:5)
If you’re battling something right now in your life, understand God’s provision and protection over you is present, even now, when surrounded by adversity or enemies. God not only provides for us, His daughters, but He does so in a way that is a source of strength and victory, even in the face of opposition.
Whenever my husband and I have the opportunity to pray over people God puts in our path while in person, we carry anointing oil with us. We use it! Anointing with oil was a sign of honor, blessing, and consecration in ancient times. It was used in the battles, too. This verse shows God’s favor and the bestowal of blessings upon the psalmist. We believe God calls us to anoint with oil when we are able to do so. We do it in the Name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
If you are battling, don’t use up all your energy defending yourself; trust in God to be your defender. Let Him anoint you, and then let Him handle the depths of the war.
“You’ll welcome us with open arms when we run for cover to you…” (Psalm 5:11)
If you’re in the heat of the battle right now, God knows. If it’s your health, sanity, dignity or fears—maybe it’s your job situation—pause and then surrender your worry to God. Give Him your pain and, most of all, your “control,” and let it go directly to Jesus. Rest in His arms, and let Him hold His promises close to your heart.
No one else has power to control your blessings over your life, but God does. He is El Roi, the God who “sees” you. He will hide you under His wings and give you peace. As the scripture goes, “His banner of you, is love. ” (read song of Solomon)
Yes, He loves you while you’re in the battle, and He loves you in the calm. He won’t ever let go of you.
