EMPOWERING LIVES WITH PURPOSE:
May we all become the person Jesus described in the Sermon on the Mount-a person who loves her enemies and never worries about anything. A person who knows God and His desires for our hearts.
As I looked into my own heart years ago, I discovered that not only did I not love my enemies the way God wanted, I really didn’t love some of my friends the way God wanted me to. I worried about everything and fears would rise up. That is until… I changed my heart.
Change comes when transformation comes through training our souls. It’s a process. We learn how through God’s Word and prayer and confession.
How do we become like Christ? The problem comes when we do not want to change and we don’t train ourselves in God’s Word. We must renew our minds in Christ each day. When we change, we need to muster up “willpower.”
Not by our own willpower, of course; we need to depend upon the will of the Holy Spirit to work in and through us.
My failure to love properly can be changed daily. It can be changed by praying in God’s will to love my enemies when they rise against me. Do I know that prayer request would be answered. YES! Because God gives us a command to love our enemies. Will He help us? Will He give us Holy Spirit power if we ask Him for it? Will He give us power to do what we feel incapable of doing? Of course He will but we have to make certain our hearts are right before God.
We will experience the results of God’s will for our lives when we know God.
“Do not be conformed to this world; but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God- what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:2)
Go deeper into God’s Word. Trust His heart. Know His will and then pray in it. ❤️
