EMPOWERING LIVES WITH PURPOSE:
What is commendable? The bible lists many things from scripture that are commendable.
Commendable qualities and actions include truth, honor, justice, purity, loveliness, and admirable qualities, as well as excellence and praise, which are found in Philippians 4:8.
This verse encourages us to focus on “whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy”. Let’s break them down…
Truth: Honesty and integrity are highly valued.
Honor: Respect, dignity, and upholding good reputation are seen as commendable.
Justice: Fairness, righteousness, and standing up for what is right are important.
Purity: Moral and spiritual cleanliness is encouraged.
Loveliness: Kindness, compassion, and gentleness are valued.
Admirable: Actions and qualities that inspire respect and awe are commendable.
Excellence: Striving for the best and achieving greatness in our calling is praiseworthy.
Praise: Giving glory to God and recognizing His work in the world is commendable.
Suffering for doing good: Enduring hardship for the sake of righteousness is seen as commendable before God.
Caring for the helpless by showing compassion and helping those in need is a commendable act.
Generous acts as giving freely of yourself and without expectation of reward. That is commendable.
Sacrificial love by putting others’ needs before your own is a commendable demonstration of love.
