The serpent convinced Eve that if she submitted to God’s direction, she would be miserable and would miss out on something good or necessary.
Satan has done such an exquisite job of taking a beautiful, holy, and powerful TRUTH to make it look ugly, frightening, and undesirable.
Fallen human nature has a problem with authority. We don’t want anyone telling us what to do. We believe the ever-present lie that if we humble ourselves before anyone, we will be unhappy. If we do it “our way,” then it’s the best way. Our way isn’t necessarily the greater way, but God’s way is always!
Submission doesn’t come naturally to many people, but we are called to submit ourselves to the authority of God. As an adult, I had to learn respect for other people. As a Christ follower, I desired to place myself under the authority of my Savior and respect and honor His word, which is TRUTH!
Submission to God’s authority brings freedom. It sets order and direction in our everyday lives for those found in Christ. And what is to follow is an unimaginable blessing for those who are obedient.
Submit or, in other words, humble yourselves before God, and He will lift you up in His perfect time.
