EMPOWERING LIVES WITH PURPOSE:

What does “Yoked” typically mean? It refers to being bound or obligated, often in a negative way, like slavery or servitude. However, it also symbolizes partnership and teamwork, particularly in the context of our faith and discipleship.

Being “unequally yoked” as in 2 Corinthians 6:14 means that believers should avoid relationships with unbelievers, as this can lead to conflict and hinder their spiritual growth.

Proverbs 27:12 states, “A wise man foresees the danger and avoids it; but the simple go ahead and suffer the consequences.”

Take heed to this scripture and the potential negative consequences of being yoked to someone or something that leads to harm or hardship in your life.

In the New Testament, Jesus uses the image of a yoke to describe His relationship with His followers.

Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).

Being yoked to Jesus means following Him, learning from Him, and finding rest in His guidance.
