Finding Joy That Lasts
Many people spend their lives chasing happiness, only to discover that happiness comes and goes with circumstances. When life is good, we feel happy. When challenges arise, that happiness can quickly disappear. But God offers something deeper—joy.
Joy is not dependent on what is happening around us. It is rooted in who God is and in our relationship with Him. Scripture describes joy as both an inward gladness in the Lord and an outward expression of rejoicing. The more we delight ourselves in God, the more joy fills our hearts, and that joy naturally overflows into our lives.
Jesus said, “My purpose for telling you these things is so that the joy that I experience will fill your hearts with overflowing gladness” (John 15:11 TPT).
The closer we draw to God, the more we experience His presence, peace, and joy. Yet there are times when we feel disconnected from that joy. Often, sin, bitterness, or disobedience can create distance between us and the One who is our source of life.
When joy feels absent, it is worth asking the Lord to search our hearts. Is there something we need to surrender? Something we need to confess? God is faithful to reveal what hinders our relationship with Him—not to condemn us, but to restore us.
1 John 1:9 reminds us, “If we freely admit our sins… he will be faithful to forgive us every time.”
True joy is not found in possessions, achievements, or perfect circumstances. It is found in the presence of God. Where He is, there is freedom. Where He is, there is peace. And where He is, there is joy that remains even in the middle of life’s storms.
Joy is the fruit of a life surrendered to Him.
