EMPOWERING LIVES WITH PURPOSE

How do we resolve conflict and get resolution with Christ?

Conflict resolution, from our perspective as a Christ follower, emphasizes reconciliation and restoration of our relationships guided by biblical principles like forgiveness and seeking God’s will. It involves addressing issues promptly, listening carefully, and seeking to understand the other person’s perspective, while also considering the needs and desires of all involved.

To achieve our goal, we move beyond simply resolving the conflict and towards restoring and strengthening the relationship, ultimately glorifying God and promoting unity. We can all do this to give honor to God!

Prioritize reconciliation and restoration and aim to repair broken relationships and restore them to their original state. Focus on reconciliation, not just resolving the issue at hand. Please know, it’s about more than just winning an argument; it’s about seeking God’s will and restoring unity within His kingdom.

Jesus teaches in Matthew 5:23-24 that if you have a problem with another person, address it before offering a gift to God. This highlights our importance of addressing conflicts and misunderstandings immediately rather than allowing them to fester.

Pray for God’s wisdom and guidance in navigating any conflict. Recognize that the goal is to reflect God’s character and principles in how you respond to others. And please listen carefully and try to seek understanding and not judgment.

May we all actively listen to the other person’s perspective, even if you don’t agree with it. Practice empathizing with their feelings and seek to understand the root of the conflict. This takes time on our part.

Forgiveness is essential for healing and reconciliation. Above all, humility is needed to admit faults, ask for forgiveness, and lay aside any pride that may involve apologizing, making amends, and rebuilding trust. Focus on restoring the relationship, not just on getting your way.

If you’re stuck in a conflict, don’t hesitate to seek help from trusted individuals or leaders who are walking with Christ. Matthew 18 outlines a process for us as seeking help from others when necessary.

Remember, following Jesus’ example of love, forgiveness, and reconciliation, ultimately glorifies God and strengthens relationships within our communities.
