EMPOWERING LIVES WITH PURPOSE:
The bible tells us all our energies and activities are spent on things that pass away…
“We can not tell what shall be tomorrow, for what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.” ( James 4:14)
“Lay not up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth, and rust does corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven…” ( Matthew 6:19-20)
We can sometimes feel that we’ve taken a lifetime to acquire “things” that we just can’t seem to part with, how do we let go? I can definitely say as I’m getting older and I’m asking God daily for His wisdom, He shows me more and more. My eyes are opening. “Things” become less and less, praise God! I’m learning through time and God’s insight through His Word what matters most. Why did I take a lifetime to learn this truth?
Psalm 39:6
“We gather, we hoard, we cling to our things, only to leave them behind for who knows who.”
Vs 7; “and now, God, I’m left with one conclusion:
My only hope is to hope in You alone.”
Let’s not think about these scriptures above at the end of our lives, let’s try to live this out daily even now.
Vs 11; “Like a cobweb is swept away with a wave of a hand, You sweep away all that we once called dear.”
Let’s pray.
“Dear God, I give you everything, it’s all yours, You give and take away and it’s ok! We surrender our “things” to You. God, I want to live for YOU!
God, please allow me to know what is most important to You. While I live here on this earth may I live to honor You and release the rest.”
