EMPOWERING LIVES WITH PURPOSE:
“Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)
How can we take time today out of our busy days to be still before God?
Oftentimes, for me, taking time by the river next to our home, with God, involves both a physical and spiritual state for me. It’s a way to connect with the nature of God’s creation, hence reflecting and worshipping God in gratitude and potentially experiencing His spiritual renewal or reflection inside of my being.
If you can make your way to a river, it has a way of bringing life to your soul. My husband and I named our river, “Living Waters Cove” because it symbolizes God is alive here in this place and His presence is always dwelling here. It brings new beginnings, spiritual cleansing, and the flow of God’s presence wrapped around our home.
We can make a special spiritual place anywhere when we want time with God. Spend time with Him in your special place and observe the signs of Him being around you.
I also spend time walking along the riverbank, observing the water, the plants, and the wildlife. I reflect on how God has created such beauty and wonder in nature. It fills my soul with awe of God as I talk with Him and worship Him.
You can “be still” in your mind and consider other activities like fishing, hiking along the road, or even sitting in your own yard or be buried in your closet in quietness. Yes, it can be anywhere you choose.
Read scripture like Psalms 46 or Psalm 1 as these verses describe God’s strength, safety, and provision for us.
Use the quiet time through prayer as I do by the river, but whatever you’re imagining as your place to talk with God, meditate on Him, your Savior, and reflect on God’s presence and love in your life. He loves you so very much!
May we seek refreshment like the “river of life,” the flow of God’s Spirit, forgiveness, and spiritual cleansing wherever we are. Renew your faith and use the time to strengthen your mind in Christ, renewing your commitment to God, and consider where He is taking you today.
Psalm 46:10 encourages us to “be still and know that I am God”. Use whatever your special place is to find peace and quiet, and to reflect on God’s presence there with you. But, be certain to take time and please do ithis today today.
