Messy Beautiful Courage
To truly know God, we must surrender completely—coming to Him with empty hands. When we do, He equips us with everything we lack, including courage. God doesn’t wait for us to fix ourselves first. He meets us in our brokenness and begins the work—piece by piece.
In August 2014, I gave my whole heart to Jesus. I didn’t feel worthy to belong to God’s family. I thought I had to be less messy, less broken. But I learned the truth: God does the fixing. Sometimes we must be so broken that He is all we have left. And in that place, we cry out to Him.
God stripped everything from me—my home, security, and the things I thought defined my worth. For nineteen months, I lived in the storm. It was the hardest season of my life, yet the most beautiful. God was removing distractions so I could finally see Him at work.
Faith didn’t mean life suddenly became easy. It meant choosing to keep going when quitting felt easier. I learned that faith is not just believing God can—it’s knowing God will.
One quiet day, God met me through something simple yet sacred—a blue butterfly resting peacefully on my window. In that moment, He reminded me of new life, hope, and His nearness. From that day forward, I began chasing God—and chasing the miracles He was revealing all around me.
Jesus didn’t come for perfect people. He came for willing hearts. God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called. All He asks for is courage—messy, trembling, imperfect courage. And that kind of courage? God can work with that.
This messy, beautiful courage will carry us through this life—and into the next.
