Sunset with a Purpose
My family loves sunsets. We find such beauty and meaning in God’s creation—especially sunsets, which display His glory in a unique way every single day. The sunset pictured here not only reflects God’s magnificence, but also reminds me of the new beginnings He orchestrated for our middle daughter.
As a mom in my season as Mother of the Bride, God once again used a life event to teach me. He gently reminded me that He is not finished with me—that learning continues until heaven. Because He loves us so deeply, He always keeps our best interests at heart, even when we don’t immediately see it. There are lessons in every experience if we pause long enough to ask Him to reveal them.
Wedding traditions may look different for today’s generation, and sometimes that requires us, as parents, to let go of expectations we once held dear. Letting go is rarely easy. For me, releasing my vision of a traditional wedding—and embracing my daughter’s destination celebration—required trust, humility, and grace. But choosing to support her unconditionally brought peace and joy.
As our children grow, our role changes. We move from directing to supporting, from guiding to trusting. While relationships shift, one thing remains constant—prayer. Just as we prayed for our daughter as a child, we now pray for her marriage, trusting God to lead and protect them both.
As the sun set on her wedding day, one chapter closed, and another began. God’s glory shone brightly over new beginnings, reminding us that He is always faithful—worthy of our trust through every season of change.
