VOICE OF TRUTH FOR TODAY
Promises
I remember my baptism like it was yesterday. Holding my nose, submerged in water—and then suddenly lifted up. In that moment, I felt completely new. It was as if the weight of the world had been washed away, replaced with peace only God can give. Scripture says, “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death… that we too may live a new life” (Romans 6:4, NIV).
Today, my husband and I have the privilege of leading groups at our church, where we often celebrate baptisms together. Living near the ocean, many baptisms take place at the beach—but on one particular Sunday, large baptismal tanks were set up outside the church. As several people were baptized, rain began to fall on and off. When I stepped under a tent for shelter, I looked up and saw something breathtaking—a rainbow.
I couldn’t help but smile at God’s perfect timing.
The rainbow has always been a reminder of God’s covenant and His promises. It doesn’t mean storms won’t come—but it does mean God will be with us through them. Baptism is an outward declaration of what God has already done inside us: our sins washed away and our lives made new through Christ.
From Genesis to Revelation, we are reminded that God keeps His promises. “Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:20, NIV).
The next time you see a rainbow, pause. Look up. Remember God’s faithfulness and protection. Praise Him for His promises. There is no greater treasure waiting for us than the One who stands on the other side—faithful, present, and true.
