EMPOWERING LIVES WITH PURPOSE:
We all respond to situations differently, agreed? Would you consider yourself a first responder?
In December, I took a bad fall down a flight of stairs backward! There were first responders who came to my rescue on that snowy winter night inside a boutique store. There were quite a few actually. But honestly, before any physical, men and women showed up and after 911 was called, my first responder was God! He was right there the whole time! And He let me see it.
After stepping into air and falling back backward down 20 stairs, my screams went to God! I thought that life was over as I knew it. I believed in the midst of that fall, I probably wouldn’t survive it. How would I survive a fall as deadly as the one happening to me in those seconds of the gravity fall? In that moment, God heard my cry for help as I screamed out to Him!
Falling backward felt like an eternity before hitting the bottom and with extreme force. It should have taken my life or badly crippled me, but God intervened in those seconds. Psalm 91:11 rings true.
“God will put his angels in charge of you to protect you wherever you go.” (Psalm 91:11)
God should be our first responder and the one we call on for help in every situation. I knew I could not save myself as there were no rails to brace me or for me to grasp hold of to help break my fall from so high up. I could only reach into mid-air and grasp the nothingness. There was absolutely nothing that could hold me upright as I fell backward…but God did! The force and momentum pushing me downward and back was indescribable horror, and that’s why I felt eminent death was coming at me. Many have read my more in-depth testimony on my personal FB page. ( you can read it if you’d like; just friend request me)
My point…God hears us in our cry out for Him. He knows our needs long before we know we will need Him. He is there in a split second. He is there in through your duration or long haul. He is there ALL the time! I had prayed earlier that morning for safety for the day, and I’m ever so thankful I did. God was my first responder.
I believe with all my heart that God positioned His angels to brace me in my fall at the time I cried out to Him. Not only while falling back but also earlier that morning as I prayed for safety over my entire day. I do that regularly. God was indeed my first responder! He is yours! Call to Him in your moment of need and pray for your day each morning.
…And… when I hit the bottom with extreme impact, I hit so hard that my bladder exploded, BUT He was there! At the moment of impact, also. I know He positioned His angels to position me in that fall. No doubt about it.
We must be equipped and ready at all times to be a first responder. My first response in a moment of disaster was to the only One who could truly help me that moment. And that was GOD!
Pray ahead and be prepared. The enemy prowls about seeking who he can “take out” at any given moment. You never know when he will pounce and take advantage of an already bad situation.
