VOICE OF TRUTH FOR TODAY
Coffee Fruits
With four young children under the age of six, life can feel overwhelming. Diapers, car rides, laundry, meals—and somehow trying to be present as a wife and mother—can leave you feeling breathless and out of balance.
One day, I found myself standing in front of the microwave, reheating my coffee for the fifth time. In that moment, the Lord gently reminded me that caffeine is not my sustenance—He is. Survival mode had crept in, and I was relying on coffee instead of the One who truly equips me for this season.
God has entrusted my husband and me with four precious souls. They are His children, on loan to us. In a world shaped by Pinterest perfection and social media comparison, it’s easy to feel inadequate. Yet God chose me to mother them. This season is part of my purpose—and I am part of theirs.
We often talk about “pouring from an empty cup,” but what about pouring from a cold one? Busyness can cause our hearts to cool if we forget to return to the Creator who gives us this season. What if standing at the microwave became a moment to pause, breathe, and invite God’s peace right where we are—messy bun, unbrushed teeth, and all?
God meets us exactly there.
Scripture reminds us, “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control” (Galatians 5:22–23, ESV). These are the true “coffee fruits” that refresh our souls.
The next time I reheat my coffee, I’ll ask the Lord to reheat my heart—to renew His Spirit in me as I care for the family He’s entrusted to my hands.
