EMPOWERING LIVES WITH PURPOSE:
Would you say you have a healthy relationship with most of your friends? Or do you continuously get in spats or disagreements with those you consider your closest friends? Think about why you have disagreement, is it because you want to be heard? Is it because you know that your way is best?
“What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?” (James 4:1)
As I read scripture and books, the number one cause of conflicts, arguments, and even divorce in relationships is usually because of selfishness. Think about this…
Selfishness ignores the needs of others. It puts ourselves in front of others so we can feel like we are the most important thing in their life. We want our opinions to matter most. Well, they don’t, only God’s do. And any and all of us should be pointing others to God who is the One with everything they need to exist. While we are here on this earth, we will be most fulfilled if we give ourselves away and point others to Christ. It’s what Jesus teaches us!
Be selfless instead of the selfish friend. Make everything about being a good listener and hearing what God speaks into you as the other friend is talking or sharing idea’s.
Ask yourself questions… Do you need to lovingly minister to them at this point? Do you need to be silent right now and allow them room to open up to you in trust? Do you need to build more trust amongst your friends so they can even take your advice?
A godly characteristic needs to be established that no one can take from you. Display the fruits of the spirit.
“The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others- ignoring God!-harvests a crop of weeds. All he’ll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life.” (Galatians 6:7-8)
While you are here on earth, give your lives away for “Christ’s” sake. When you make it about others, you will really understand what it means to live. Read Mark 8:35 if you are feeling led and if this touches your heart. ❤️
