VOICE OF TRUTH FOR TODAY
Because YOU Prayed
Prayer is powerful. For some, it comes naturally; for others, it feels intimidating or even overwhelming. Yet Scripture is clear: prayer is not optional for believers — it is essential. “They ought always to pray and not lose heart” (Luke 18:1, ESV). “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17, ESV).
Prayer is our greatest weapon.
In Isaiah 37, we see a powerful example of what happens when someone chooses to be ever interceding. King Hezekiah was facing an impossible situation. His enemy was strong, threatening, and relentless. Instead of panicking or trying to fight in his own strength, Hezekiah went before the Lord and prayed. He laid the situation at God’s feet and asked Him to be glorified.
God’s response was clear and unmistakable: “Because you have prayed to Me…” (Isaiah 37:12, ESV).
What followed was nothing short of miraculous. The angel of the Lord struck down 185,000 enemy soldiers — and God’s people did not have to lift a single finger. The battle was won because one man prayed. One prayer. One act of obedience. WOW.
Scripture reminds us, “The battle is not yours, but God’s” (2 Chronicles 20:15, ESV). When we pray, we step back and allow God to be God. Prayer invites Him to fight battles we were never meant to fight alone.
God still works this way today. He still answers prayer. He still moves on behalf of His people. “Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and hidden things you have not known” (Jeremiah 33:3, ESV).
Stand firm. Be amazed. Be ever interceding. Watch what God will do in your life — because you prayed.
