VOICE OF TRUTH FOR TODAY
What Is Your Dash? Living Your Legacy

Have you ever stopped to think that you are living your legacy right now? Every word you speak, every choice you make, and every day you’re given is shaping what others will remember about you. Why not live intentionally — starting today?

When someone passes away, their life is summarized with a name, a birth date, and a death date. Between those two dates is a simple dash. That dash may look small, but it represents an entire life. The dash doesn’t change based on status, success, or titles. What does change is what people will say about how that life was lived.

That dash is your legacy.

As a mother and now a Nonna, the greatest legacy I can leave my children and grandchildren is a relationship with the Lord. From an early age, I taught my children Scripture, worship, and prayer. God promises, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6, KJV). I have seen this truth lived out. Parenting was not always easy, but God was faithful. Today, my children — and even my grandchildren — love Jesus, and there is no greater joy (3 John 1:4).

In a world of constant noise and instant gratification, we must return to the basics. Teaching Scripture. Reading Bible stories. Praying together. Passing down truth from generation to generation. The people of God have always done this — long before technology, entertainment, and convenience.

What are we passing along to the next generation?

I encourage you to let your dash reflect faith, intentionality, and obedience. Sing worship songs. Read the Word. Teach children to pray. Our culture depends on the legacy God’s people are leaving behind.

“I will establish my covenant between me and you and your descendants after you” (Genesis 17:7, KJV).

Your dash matters. Live it well.
