VOICE OF TRUTH FOR TODAY
Hope and Healing
“What do you hope for?”
I recently asked this question inside my private Facebook group, Sisters Who Shine, and the responses were heartfelt and honest. Some shared their hope that prodigal children would return to the Lord. Others hoped simply to make choices that glorify God. Hope looks different for each of us — but it matters deeply to God.
Scripture reminds us, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life” (Proverbs 13:12, NIV). Hope is expectation. It’s closely tied to faith — believing in what we cannot yet see while trusting God to bring it to pass.
God promises that He knows the plans He has for us — plans for abundance, hope, and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). That future doesn’t look the same for everyone. Hope is the bridge that carries us from where we are today to what God has prepared for tomorrow.
Years ago, God placed a desire in my heart to speak and encourage women. At the time, I was newly divorced — for the second time — and raising two young children. I felt like damaged goods. But as I immersed myself in God’s Wor d, truth replaced shame. I began to believe I am who He says I am — fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). As my faith grew, so did my hope… and healing followed.
Over time, that desire never faded. In fact, it grew stronger. I began to understand that sometimes God plants dreams in us long before we’re ready for them — because preparation is part of the healing process.
Sweet sister, has God placed a desire in your heart? Something you can’t stop thinking about? Take delight in the Lord and trust Him with it (Psalm 37:4). When He calls you to it, He will walk you through it.
God wants us whole, healed, and filled with hope. Commit your dreams to Him — and let the God of hope fill you with joy, peace, and expectation for what’s ahead (Romans 15:13).
