EMPOWERING LIVES WITH PURPOSE:

Do you ever stop and think about what you say in conversations before you speak? Or about conversations that you will have throughout your day before they happen? I never used to until this scripture…

“Intelligent people think before they speak; what they say is then more persuasive.” (Proverbs 16:23)

In leadership with women world leaders, I began praying each day and asking God to give me wise words to share in my conversations that are on my schedule for each day. He hears my prayers each morning, and I know He goes before me, leading me each and every time with conversation.

Do you want to have meaningful conversations with people throughout your day? Then you need to plan for them and pray for them as well. Ask God to go before you through the power of the Holy Spirit and ask Him to give you wisdom about what to say and how to say it, especially if you know an important conversation will be taking place.

When we tap into God’s wisdom and power, we are taking advantage of what God gives us as His children. We have the ability to ask Him for what He thinks people are in need of from us, and we can be the hands and feet to help provide it for them. I learned I should never call or begin or walk into any meeting unprepared. Just as we would prepare for having an important conversation with our spouse or our child, we should ask God to provide the information we need for any conversation we are about to have, important or just casual.

If you want to be persuasive with your words, then put your mind into gear before you put your mouth into motion. I know that by doing my morning prayers, they help prepare me for every conversation I have throughout the day. I know that God is with me through every single one of them. When you do this, you know that you are entering into any conversation with any person, accompanied by God’s grace.

God’s word tells us that everything we say should be kind and well-thought-out (Colossians 4:6). By thinking and planning ahead and praying, God will be in your conversation each and every time.
