EMPOWERING LIVES WITH PURPOSE:

Written by Tewannah Leticia Aman

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; lean not unto your own understanding…” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

For our single ladies here in WWL’S, try not to be the initiator or the one that starts a spiritual conversation with a man. I instructed one of the ladies in my class why it was unwise to do this. And she responded “what if he is shy?” Another said, “he could be an introvert.” And I noticed there was some pushback.

So, picture yourself…you’re in line at Lowe’s or a grocery store. There’s a guy that’s caught your eye. You both smile. You want to talk to him. And it’s bubbling up inside of you strong. You’re having a hard time containing yourself.

So, the conversation begins… Then comes the name exchange. And then the woman asks the guy if he goes to church? Are you a Christian? What do you think someone’s going to say? I call it the “parrot.”

The man’s response, “I’ve been pondering going back to church.” Or, “I believe in God, or ‘Well, it’s been a long time since I’ve gone to church.” And the responses go on and on. …

So they ask, “what should we do then?” Well, if God has placed you on this man’s heart, the guy will ask if you go to church? He’ll ask If you are a Christian? What your testimony is? We observe that too many women are the first to bring up the spiritual, and then are disappointed when the man doesn’t show more godly fruit? What did they expect?

That’s why I emphasize getting involved in church and being in ministry. Its on these places you can meet somebody within the body of Christ serving or having a relationship with God. The church is your covering.

Don’t let the enemy tell you that this is the one that’s going to get away, realize this could be your flesh. You don’t want to focus on your own feelings, you want to focus on Jesus.

Tell yourself, “If he is the one, he will want to know if I have a relationship with Jesus! I want a godly man and a spiritual leader. I don’t want a non-believer or nominal Christian.”

If you truly do want a man that is following after Jesus, you will trust God to bring that together in a way that enables you to confirm his walk with the Lord. God always wants the glory for your story. He wants for His guidance and direction to be revealed in your life. That is why Proverbs 3:5,6 says we acknowledge Him in all of our ways, and He unveils His plan for our lives.

Anyone can say they believe in God. Anyone can say they go to church. How many women have been thoroughly disappointed because they later found out he wasn’t as spiritual as they initially presumed. Or how many think, it’s ok, I can fix him by him being with me? But it’s the heart that matters, ladies. Only God knows his heart and motives.

Seek God and His Word and pray for His will to be done in your life. Pray for the man you desire. The more you seek God, the more you’ll be able to discern what He wants you to do. You’ll know the difference between someone who’s just talking the talk as opposed to those who are truly walking the walk.

And until God brings that person to you, just stay focused on Him. Decide that serving Him is the most important thing in you can do in your life. You want someone to come alongside and encourage you on the pathway to eternity.

May you have an abundance of peace, strength, and comfort as you wait on Him to bring that very special someone into your life.
