VOICE OF TRUTH FOR TODAY
The Lord of the Harvest

Sweet Woman of God, every season of life offers us an opportunity to experience the harvest God provides.
My husband and I have especially noticed this since relocating to Ohio. We arrived during winter and watched beautiful snowfall cover the ground. Then spring burst forth with color, followed by the sticky days of summer. Now fall is arriving, leaves are changing, fields are producing fruit, and farmers are preparing to gather the harvest they have worked so faithfully to cultivate.

Our lives have seasons too. Some feel like planting. Others require patient tending and waiting. And then there are beautiful seasons when we finally see fruit from what God has been doing all along. But through every one of them, one truth remains: God is the Lord of the harvest.

Jesus told His disciples, “The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest” (Matthew 9:37–38, KJV).

Our role is to faithfully do what the Holy Spirit asks of us each day. Like farmers preparing soil, planting seeds, and tending growing plants, we obey—and then trust God with the outcome. The harvest ultimately belongs to Him.
Scripture also gives harvest a beautiful twofold meaning: God’s provision for us and His blessing flowing through us to others. He provides our work, our families, our resources, and what we need in every season. Then He invites us to reflect His bounty to the world around us.

So today, consider this question: Am I putting God in His rightful place in the season I’m in?

Keep tending the field He has given you. Keep planting faithfully. Keep trusting Him with what you cannot produce yourself.

The harvest belongs to God—and He gets all the glory.
