VOICE OF TRUTH FOR TODAY
I Need
A great crowd followed Jesus into the wilderness because they wanted more of Him. They followed without knowing exactly where He was going, how far they would travel, or how their needs would be met. And Jesus noticed.
Looking at the crowd, He asked Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” (John 6:5, NIV).
But Jesus wasn’t asking because He needed Philip to solve the problem.
Scripture tells us Jesus already knew what He was going to do.
That stops me. Am I willing to follow my Good Shepherd like those people did—captivated enough by Him to go wherever He leads, confident He already knows what I need? Sometimes Jesus uses questions to make us aware of needs we haven’t even recognized. Not because He lacks an answer, but because He wants us to see our dependence upon Him.
Philip looked at the situation and saw impossibility.
Andrew noticed a boy with five small loaves and two fish. It wasn’t enough—but at least he brought what was available to Jesus. And that’s where the miracle began. Without Jesus’ blessing, what we have may never seem sufficient. But with God, all things are possible.
So what little do you have today?
Time?
Resources?
A gift?
A willingness to serve?
Are you willing to place it in His hands?
Jesus is the Good Shepherd. He knows your needs before you recognize them, and He already has a plan. Follow Him confidently. Listen when He points out your neediness. And when what you have seems impossibly small, give it to Him anyway.
The One who multiplied a child’s lunch to feed thousands can still take our “not enough” and make it more than enough.
