VOICE OF TRUTH FOR TODAY
Planting Seeds and Harvest

Every day, we make countless choices. Do I get up or hit snooze? Coffee or tea? Do I speak or stay quiet? Turn right or left? Many choices seem insignificant in the moment, but over time, the seeds we plant through our decisions influence the harvest we eventually receive.

Second Corinthians 9:6 teaches, “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously” (NIV).

Sowing is planting. Reaping is harvesting. So it’s worth asking: What am I planting?
Are my daily decisions cultivating strong relationships, a faithful marriage, joyful children, meaningful work, and deeper intimacy with God? Or am I hoping for a harvest I haven’t been planting toward?

Galatians 6 reminds us that we reap what we sow—but it also gives us tremendous hope: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9, NIV).

So keep planting.

Plant prayer. Plant time in God’s Word. Plant service. Plant love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—the fruit produced when we walk with the Holy Spirit. And don’t become discouraged when planting feels difficult.

Psalm 126:5 promises, “Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy” (NIV).

Some of our most beautiful harvests begin with seeds planted during seasons of sacrifice.

Our choices also influence generations beyond us. Our children watch what we plant and eventually learn to sow seeds of their own.

So plant intentionally. Plant faithfully. Plant even through tears. God is faithful with the harvest.
And at just the right time, the seeds planted in faith can blossom into more beauty, love, and joy than we ever imagined.
