Faith in Action
Faith is more than believing something in our hearts—it’s acting upon what we believe.
In Mark 2, four men carried their paralyzed friend to Jesus because they believed He could heal him. When they arrived, the house was packed. Most people would have turned around and gone home. Instead, these men climbed onto the roof, made an opening, and lowered their friend directly in front of Jesus.
That’s faith in action.
What fascinates me most is Jesus’ response. Before addressing the man’s physical condition, Jesus said, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”
Why? Because Jesus understood that spiritual healing is even more important than physical healing. He wanted everyone present to understand who He truly was—not just a miracle worker, but the Son of God with authority to forgive sins.
The religious leaders questioned His authority. Jesus responded by healing the man physically, proving that He had authority both to heal and to forgive.
This story challenges us to answer an important question: Who is Jesus?
If we truly believe He is who He says He is, our faith should move us to action. The friends in this story didn’t allow obstacles to stop them. Their faith was persistent, courageous, and determined.
Mark 2:5 says, “When Jesus saw their faith…”
Imagine that. Jesus saw their faith.
Our faith should be visible too—not only in what we say but in how we live, trust, pray, and persevere.
When we believe Jesus is able, we step forward even when circumstances seem impossible. We trust Him with our needs and the needs of those we love.
Faith moves us toward Jesus—and often opens the door for miracles.
