It’s A Date!
Dates can hold a lot of weight.
Birthdays, holidays, anniversaries—they carry memories, expectations, and often… emotions.
Sometimes, without even realizing it, we assign so much meaning to a single day that it begins to control how we feel, how we act, and even how we treat others.
But what if we’ve been giving dates too much power?
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24 NIV).
Not just the big days. Not just the holidays. Every day.
When we let emotions lead, we can create unrealistic expectations—setting ourselves up for disappointment or even placing pressure on others to meet those expectations.
But God invites us into something different.
A daily walk. A daily surrender. A daily joy that isn’t dependent on a date on the calendar.
“Take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV).
What if instead of asking, How should this day go? we asked, Lord, how do You want this day to go?
Because when we release control and follow His lead, every day becomes worth celebrating.
Not because of the date—but because of Him.
