VOICE OF TRUTH FOR TODAY
Kelowna Fire of 2023 in British Columbia
What began as a typical summer wildfire quickly became something far more devastating.
As I drove home, smoke filled the air so thick it turned day into night. Ash fell like snow. The atmosphere carried an eerie stillness, broken only by the distant roar of flames.
Entire neighborhoods were lost. Families fled their homes with little warning. The fire moved swiftly, unpredictably, consuming everything in its path.
And yet… in the midst of chaos, there was something else.
Prayer.
“You make my feet like the feet of a deer; you cause me to stand on the heights.” —Psalm 18:33 (CEV)
As I looked out over the city, I began to pray for the firefighters—for strength, for direction, for protection. In my spirit, I could see what my eyes could not… God was present.
Even in destruction, He was moving.
Not a single life was lost.
Not one firefighter or first responder was harmed.
And in the aftermath, something beautiful emerged—people coming together, offering shelter, food, and support. Communities rising in compassion.
Through it all, I sensed God speaking.
A refining fire.
A call to holiness.
A reminder that He is still in control.
Even when everything around us feels uncertain…
He remains.
