VOICE OF TRUTH FOR TODAY
Evangeline Booth

What would happen if you truly chose your purpose—and refused to let anything stop you?
Evangeline Booth lived that kind of life.

From the time she was born into the Salvation Army family, her purpose was clear. But instead of relying on her position, she chose humility. She dressed in rags, walked among the poor, and witnessed firsthand the brokenness of humanity.

Her heart was moved by suffering—and she responded with action.
Scripture tells us that Jesus “went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed” (Acts 10:38). Evangeline followed that example with unwavering determination.
When disaster struck, she showed up.
When people were hurting, she served.
When doubt crept in, she trusted God’s power.

Even when she felt unqualified to lead, God reminded her:
“He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.” — Ephesians 3:20 (NIV)
Her life is a powerful reminder that purpose isn’t about comfort—it’s about commitment.

Choose your purpose.
Set your face like flint.
And trust God to do the rest.
