VOICE OF TRUTH FOR TODAY
The Caregiver

Sharing the gospel is not always about words.
Often, it is demonstrated through the quiet acts of caring for others.

Over the years, I’ve come to realize that caregiving can be one of the most powerful expressions of God’s love. Jesus Himself modeled this throughout His ministry—healing the sick, feeding the hungry, and caring for those who felt forgotten.

Scripture reminds us of this truth in Matthew 25:40:
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

My journey into caregiving began many years ago when my father-in-law passed away suddenly. My husband and I stepped in to care for his mother, whose health had declined over the years.

Those days were not always easy, but they were filled with moments of love and joy. I remember one morning when my husband lifted his mother in his arms and danced with her around the house—a beautiful reminder that even in hardship, God provides moments of grace.

Years later, my role as caregiver deepened when my husband was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease. For eight years I walked beside him through that difficult journey.

Through it all, God’s Word became my anchor.
Ephesians 4 calls us to “be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”

Caregiving taught me what sacrificial love truly looks like.
Just as Christ laid down His life for us, we are called to reflect that same love in the way we care for others.
In serving them, we often discover that God is transforming us as well.
