EMPOWERING LIVES WITH PURPOSE:
Forming the proper habits is a very good thing! A habit is an action or behavior that is regular and repetitive- a long-standing practice. How many of us have formed great “habits” when it comes to spiritual things of the Lord?
Jesus, who was very perfect about His routines, had the habit of praying. We see clearly throughout the scriptures that it was regular and repetitive for Him to go to His Father and communicate. Jesus is showing us the importance of good practice in needs and communications with our Heavenly Father.
Jesus would often rise long before the daybreak to be alone and in a solitary place to pray. He made prayer a priority in His life. We could learn from Jesus in this very important habit that should never be broken. Take any care or concern to God in prayer.
Have you ever tried waking up while it’s still dark and quiet in your home and then have prayer time with God? I can’t say it has become a complete habit for me, but I want it to be…
But what “has” become a habit is ALWAYS beginning my day and first words to be with God! It is often the best times of my communication time with Him when I wake up and get up early enough in the morning to have an abundance of time and just talk with God.
Most of us struggle to find time in our schedules for prayer. Think about a time in your day when you can practice “forming a habit” of prayer and scripture reading with our Father. Being intimately active one-on-one with Him will change your life forever. I’ve heard it takes 21 days to form a habit. Try to begin somewhere in the day with consistency in prayer time and Bible time; it makes all the difference in how the remainder of your day and week goes.
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” (Mark 1:35)
Let our Savior be our constant encourager; His example is something important for us to follow and structure habit-forming principles that will help us.
